Privacy Policy

Last updated: [PUBLICATION DATE]

Picameo is built so that the private part of it never leaves your phone. Your photos, the cameos you make from them, your pages, notes and collections are stored on your device and are not uploaded to a Picameo server. This page explains what that means in practice, and the few places where information does leave the app.

This document describes Picameo as it is built today. Anything marked in a highlighted box like THIS is a placeholder that still needs a real value, and this is a plain-language draft rather than reviewed legal advice — have a lawyer look at it before you publish.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the Picameo app for iPhone and to this website. Picameo is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (“Picameo”, “we”, “us”). If you use the app, this policy describes how we treat information related to you.

2. Information we collect

Picameo does not require an account, and we do not ask you for your name, email address, phone number or date of birth in order to use the app. In the current version of Picameo:

  • We do not operate a Picameo server that receives, stores or processes your photos or cameos.
  • We do not use an advertising network, and we show no ads.
  • We do not include an analytics or attribution SDK, so the app does not report your in-app behaviour back to us.
  • We do not build profiles about you, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

The information we do receive is limited to what is described in “Purchases” and “Third-party services” below — and to anything you choose to send us yourself, such as the contents of a support email.

3. Photos and camera access

Picameo asks for access to your camera so you can take a photo inside the app, and for access to your photo library so you can choose a photo you already have. iOS shows you these prompts, and you can grant, limit or revoke either permission at any time in the iOS Settings app.

These permissions are used for one purpose: making and keeping cameos inside Picameo. Photos you capture or select are processed on your device. They are not uploaded to us, not shared with third parties for advertising or training, and not sold. If you decline camera access you can still use the photo library, and the reverse is also true — the app simply offers fewer ways to start a cameo.

4. Local storage on your device

Your photos, generated cameos, collections, pages, calendar entries, notes and app settings are stored locally on your iPhone, inside Picameo’s own storage area. Because the data lives on your device, it is protected by the same device-level protections as the rest of your phone, including your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and iOS file encryption.

If you have iCloud or an encrypted local backup turned on, your device backup may include Picameo’s data. That backup is handled by Apple under Apple’s terms, not by us, and we have no access to it.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

Picameo offers paid access. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store — we never see or receive your card number, billing address or Apple ID password.

To check whether a purchase is active and to restore it across your own devices, Picameo uses RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. In that process, RevenueCat receives purchase and receipt information from Apple together with an anonymous identifier for your installation, and may receive basic technical details such as your device model, operating system version and app version. It does not receive your photos, cameos or any other content you create in the app. RevenueCat handles that information as described in its own privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

6. Third-party services

The services involved in running Picameo today are:

  • Apple / the App Store — distributes the app and processes payments. Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymised sales and download statistics through App Store Connect. These reports do not identify individual users.
  • RevenueCat — verifies and restores purchases, as described above.

If we ever add another service that processes information about you, we will update this policy before that change reaches you.

7. Data retention and deletion

Because your content is stored on your device, you control how long it is kept. Deleting a cameo, page or collection inside the app removes it from your device. Deleting Picameo itself removes the app and the data stored inside it — this cannot be undone by us, and we cannot recover content for you, because we never had a copy.

Purchase records held by Apple and RevenueCat are retained by those companies under their own policies, so that purchases can be restored and for their accounting obligations.

8. Children's privacy

Picameo is not directed at children under [MINIMUM AGE], and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because the app requires no account and collects no personal details, there is normally nothing for us to hold. If you believe a child has provided information to us directly — for example by emailing support — contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

Keeping your content on your device removes the largest risk to it: a server of ours being breached. Your Picameo data is protected by iOS’s own encryption and app sandboxing. No system is perfectly secure, so we recommend using a device passcode and keeping iOS up to date.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete personal information held about you, and to object to certain processing. In Picameo’s case, the content those rights normally cover is already in your hands on your own device. For anything held by Apple or RevenueCat, contact those companies directly; for anything you have sent us, write to us using the address below.

11. Changes to this policy

If Picameo changes in a way that affects this policy — a new service, a new feature that needs to send data somewhere — we will update this page and change the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.

12. Contact

Questions about privacy in Picameo can be sent to [ADD-CONTACT-EMAIL]. Postal address, if one is required for your jurisdiction: [POSTAL ADDRESS].
